Moola Rama vigraham [Idol] in the middle is the idol belongs to Sathya / Krutha Yuga, which exists even before the existence of Sri Rama. It is the idol which is created by Vishwakarma (the engineer of the gods).
In Brahma Loka, Brahma dev every day performs manasa pooja to Mahadev, Maha Vishnu, Mahadevi/ Jagatmatha [Devi], and as a creator, he manifests different forms of the Parabrahmam, which may or not actually taken birth. Once in Krutha or Sathya Yuga, Lord Brahma manifests Sri Rama, means the form actually gets visible [gets avirbhavam] in front of him, after he meditates upon Sri Rama, There's a man named Shankukarna who's duty is to get fruits and flowers to Brahma dev whenever he performs pooja. As usual, he brought flowers while brahma dev is meditating, he saw the beautiful form manifested in the front of him, then he, out of devotion, strongly desired to perform pooja to that form with the flowers he brought, Bramha dev got to know this and said Shankukarna, to get born as human on Mrithyu Lok or Bhu lok [earth] , as he have a desire which is the nature of human, [only human has the desires which are bounded by karma], Shankukarna then requested Bramha dev to fulfill his wish of worshipping the manifested form in his human birth, then Brahma dev calls Vishwakarma and orders him to create the idol of the manifested form of Sri Rama and named it as moola Rama Vigraham. So this is the first ever idol of Sri Rama.
The idol which is created by Vishwakarma, which is worshipped by Prabhu Hanuman himself for thousands of years, and also worshipped by the incarnations of Shankukarna, [Vyasa theertha and Raghavendra swamy in Kali Yuga] is finally now in the Manthralayam, Sri Rahavendra swamy Mutt.
