SLOKAM OF UGADI PACHADI

Ugadi or the actual word Yugadi [has been modified by local used language] is considered as new year as per Panchangam, Vedas or as per Indian concept of Time which is the day of new beginning. It is said that Lord Bramha has been started the creation of Universe on the day of Chaitra shukla Padyami, the word Yugadi means start of the new age or Yuga, and signifies the beginning of a new month, Chaitra masam, the first month as per Hindu Calender or Panchangam or Astrology [which is clearly expained in Hindu Scriptures like Vedas, Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu Purana, Mahabharata, Suryasiddhanta etc., It is the start of Spring season in India signifying that nature is also ready for new beginnings.On this Auspicious day Everyone will have a customary food prepared called as Ugadi Pachadi, which is in a paste or liquid form made from jaggery (sugar), neem buds, tamarind juice,salt and raw mango. The paste combines 6 tastes, where neem and jaggery are main and signifies the great internal meaning of accepting both bad and good experiences of life equally. There is a Sloka which should be chant before taking Ugadi Pachadi or prasadam, And here it is.

शतायु वज्र देहाया सर्व सम्पत करायचा 

सर्वारिष्ट विनाशया निम्बकम दल भक्षणम ||

Shathayu Vajra Dehaya Sarva Sampath Karaya Cha 

Sarvaarista Vinashaya Nimbakam Dala Bhakshanam ||

శతాయు వజ్రదేహాయ సర్వ సంపత్ కారాయచ 

సర్వా ర్రిష్ట వినాశాయ  నింబకం  దళ భక్షణమ్‌॥

వేపపూత మరియు బెల్లం తో కూడిన ఉగాది పచ్చడిని తినడం వల్ల దేహం వజ్రసదృశమై సర్వారిష్టాలూ తొలగిపోతాయనీ.... నూరేళ్లు సుఖంగా జీవిస్తారనీ ఈ శ్లోకం అర్థము.
