SHAKKIYA NAYANAR
Shakkiya nayanar or Sakiya nayanar, Sakkiyar nayanar is one of the 63 Nayanars. Nayanars are the great Shiva devotees of 3rd to 8th century, who all are Dravidians. 'Periya puranam' describes the lives of 63 Nayanars where Shakkiya Nayanar stands in 34th place.
Shakkiya Nayanar born in Tiru changa mangai near Kanchipuram which is Sangaramangai, Nagapattim district, Tamil Nadu, India. At his time there was a lot of religious disputes mainly against Hinduism. The people used to attack each and every one who worship hindu dieties and maily Lord Shiva. Shakkiya nayanar was a hindu but pretend to be the follower of Bhuddism, the name itself states, shakya means the one from the clan of Bhuddism. One day he saw a Shiva Linga which is on the way, and got attracted towards it, he was unable to stop himself from worshiping the diety, but he also know that the people around if seen him doing so will treat him very bad, he felt very sad that he want to worship and offer anything to Lord Shiva but unable to, then he picked a stone nearby him and thought it to be a lotus flower in his mind and with pure heart he throwed it towards the diety, he felt happy by doing that and thought lord will only see his devotion but ignore the way he did it, which can be said as
''Yad Bhavam Tad Bhavathi''
means what you think it to be, it will be that, or everything depends on the individual perception and how you see, is what you see.
Then every day he used to do the same and go to his house then he used to have his food, for every one who is seeing that he throwed stone toward Shiva's diety was feeling very happy because they thought this man is insulting the Shiva lingam, this shows how dangerous situation exists at that time.
Evey day throwing a stone towards Lord Shiva by assuming it to be a flower, fruits and other offerings and to have food after this ritual has became a habit to him which made his love more strong towards Lord Shiva.

One day he forgot to do his daily ritual, and was about to have his food and remembered that he didn't worship his dear one and then by not bothering about his hungry he ran to the place of Shiva lingam and threw a stone with lots of devotion and tears in his eyes. Then Lord Shiva appeared before him and blessed by seeing his devotion, and Shakkiya nayanar attained Liberation or Moksha.

This, for those people who were witnessing the situation, it was a person who throwed stones on Shiva Linga and attained Moksha, but this was difficult for them to understand. In this way, he proved that God accepts every thing if offered with a great devotion.
